ARTISTS
Tricia Rae
Tricia's medium of choice is watercolor. There is just something about the movement and dynamics that watercolor can offer. Her inspiration comes from birds and nature, and perhaps a more unusual inspiration is the trio's ability to make stained glass glow with light. Tricia's background is in graphic design, where she worked as a graphic designer for a local newspaper for 8 years. As a graphic designer, she likes to incorporate common design elements and colors into her watercolors.

I think raccoons are very interesting animals and have something of a reputation as being rascals. The mask around their eyes doesn't detract from this thinking about them, I think. Raccoons cross our backyard frequently and I enjoy viewing them so when I saw the photos taken by Laura Jackson on the Reference photos for artists Facebook page, I decided to use the photo as a reference for the Raccoons watercolor painting. I enjoyed creating the expression on their faces as if to say, "Maybe I'm d

For this 8x10 watercolor painting I used salt on wet paint in the background to give an impression of foliage, and a variety of strong brush strokes in green and blue in the foreground to give the impression of the Fox semi-hidden in grasses. My hope was to convey some of the impish beauty of this elusive woodland creature.
